CS Minia - Photo Copy

Here is a rare 19th century photo copy of the Cable Steamer Minia in Halifax harbor which was used in the Titanic body recovery effort. This ship was contracted to relieve the CS Mackay-Bennett which found 306 bodies along with some flotsam but forced to return when it ran low of embalming fluid. While the Minia found only 17 victims, several crew member are noted for finding floating debris and making ornate objects like picture frames, document boxes and furniture from the wreckwood.

Special thanks to Steve Santini author of ~ "Titanic Touchstones of a Tragedy". See this picture and more in this book revisiting the Titanic through period artifacts and memorabilia...a must have for collectors and enthusiasts.
